Dipstick blow out!

Recommended Posts

Often when i check the ea81t's oil, the dipstick has been blown up out of its seat by about 2cm so that it doesn't seal. I cant see how the crank case would be subjected to a positive pressure, since i know that the pcv hose from the right rocker cover to the intake hose is not blocked. Any ideas on what causes this?

Cheers.

#8 wire = fencing wire.

just kidding though, i wont really use it to hold the dipstick in! Its just one of those stereotypes about nz'ers, that we use #8 wire for everything.

No doubt it will get held in with insulation tape, like most other loose things on my cars.

my uncle has a toyota cressida that blows the dipstick out, he piped it to the rocker cover breather inlet, has'nt had a problem with it since

That would be a good solution, but i think ill stick with the insulation tape for the moment, cos im a bit lazy.
