Just before it stopped working altogether it was working intermittently and when it didn't start I would simply keep pushing the ac button until it turned on. Now it won't go on no matter what I do. Cougar Posted April 2, 2005 Share Posted April 2, 2005 Hopefully the problem is in the power circuit for the AC rather than the compressor. I would first check to see if the clutch is engaging on the compressor when you turn the switch on. If not, check for voltage getting to the magnetic clutch. Onearmwet Posted April 3, 2005 Share Posted April 3, 2005 my experience is that the compressor will not kick in if the refrigerant level/pressure is low. was it cooling good before it quit?. if it was luke cool then it may need a recharge to get the compressor to kick in. or i may be missing the point and there is a control or electric problem.
