This is a GUESS: The trans. may not actually be getting all the way to Park. You might check for adjustment of the linkage between the lever and the tranny. Maybe in just needs an adjustment, or mayber there's an obstruction taking up some of the travel. This is just a guess. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
mtsmiths Posted April 22, 2005 Share Posted April 22, 2005 Not Subaru specific, but Click & Clack deal with this on a regular basis. There's a pawl that constitutes the 'park' locking function. Linkage adjustment always seems to resolve the issue. Most of the complaints are "It won't come OUT of park", but either way the answer is almost always the same. cookie Posted April 22, 2005 Share Posted April 22, 2005 sometimes if someone slams a car into park while it is rooling it can actually kill the parking prawl.
