that is unless you make custom mounts. someone on the board has done this to a hatch, but i dont remember who. im sure he will speak up soon however!

That would be me.

you have to custom make brackets for the mounting points on the lower control arms.

Also have to cut appx 2" off of each end.

Changes the character of the car immensely.

I was wearing the outside edges of the front tires before I put the rear bar on. Now I don't have that issue.

Does away with the understeer.

I don't consider my hatch to be twitchy but my brother-in-law thinks it is.

Maybe a little on long, fast sweepers.

Short wheelbase ya' know.

Regards,

Jay

some pictures would be cool.. are you talking front or rear sway bar? JWX is asking about a front sway bar as that's what I'm trying to sell to him.

actually, if you want to get a more neutral car, i would try taking off the front sway bar. with most cars i know, if you put on a bigger rear bar and smaller (read none) front bar, the car will be more willing to hang out the tail in turns.

No front bar? The thinking is correct but it loses something in application.

When I changed my RX to 5 lug I left the front bar off for a week.

The car would really lean in the front when pushed, scary lean.

I did have the rear bar off the XT6 on the back. 21mm

Hooked up the front and it leveled out.

Understeers on brakes and oversteers on throttle.

Good thing is I have 3 front bars for the front and two for the back to choose from.

Not trying to be the know all, see all. Just sharing my info. Individual results may vary.

hello swayers

my project (takin over from wrx1ab) puts an XT/RX 21mm rear sway bar on an 82 GLW. Yep, EA81s don't have the mounts.

he took the rear swaybar & control arms from the XT (RX?) and did a lil dremmel mod to the wagon to make it happen.

that in addition to KYBs all around made it quite a handler

i'll let you now when the 'resurection' is complete

82 GLW (w/ RX & XT bits  )

I put XT6 20MM swaybars all around...handling improved. I then put the stock 18mm back upfront (this is on the GL-10), as the XT6 did not quite fit 100%. Handling is neutral, a touch of understeer...I imagine that will change when the FT4WD trans is installed tho.

The RX is very neutral, and loose on the loose stuff. To my knowledge, and from what I can tell, its all stock. The enigne runs like crap tho. I did make it run a little better today...
