sid_vicious
Hi, I'm looking around for a used EJ22 and came across one that the seller lists as a 1996 EJ22E. Does anyone know what the E on the end might mean? The listing says it is from a 1996 Legacy. Any ideas?
avk
EJ22E must be a 1995-96 version of the engine.
Dr. RX
Sounds like someone is using a generic engine code that is used by most Japanese manufacturers (but not Subaru). I found many hit on Google that list an EJ22E, the dates range from 9/89 to 9/99, which covers at least two different versions of the engine. I think they are using the "e" as a notation that the engine is electric fuel injected.
sid_vicious
Thanks for the insights. I'm now awaiting some more clarity on the engine's condition. After seeing the eBay auction was from an auto salvage yard, I went to their website to see if I could get any more information on the engine. Surprise, surprise, the inventory listing says "NO-RUN". I e-mailed them to find out what the trouble is and why it's not mentioned in their online auction. Thanks again.
