Unimog axles are heavyier, more expensive and harder to find parts for than a Dana 60.

The latest Crawlers are not using Unimog equipment anymore.

Just wait until the PortalTek axles come out. Ford 9" diff, nodular iron axle tubes (square like a Rockwell), and some pretty wild portal box ratios, in addition to out-of-the-box Wilwood brakes. Yeah, they're $4000 an axle, but for the most insane rigs, they'll be amazing.

That is kind of interesting mounting the engine and trans on top of the axle instead of up in the frame/body. Wonder what transaxle and transfercase was used? Looks back heavy...wonder how it climbs? Any more pics and info floating around?

How about action shots of that Sidewinder buggy with the high hp engine? Last photos I saw of it they were just rolling it out of the shop and flexing it with a forklift.
