map sensor

Featured Replies

hey autozone plugged into my car today and told me i have a bad MAP (manifold air pressure) sensor. does anyone know where i can find it in the engine. i don't know what it looks like or where to start. also does anyone know if i will be able to change my o2 sensor myself. the car is from michigan so i am sure it is rusted pretty good. will it be a paine to get out or is it possible i can get it out with some map gas and wd -40

thanks alot

Model.year and engine type might help if you want correct information

Check out this thread for a decent picture of under the hood

This link talks about differences between a MAP and a MAF

engine type and year are kind of important.

If you need a MAF, I have a used one listed in the classified area.

Good luck!

sorry it is a 97 subaru legacy outback 2.5l dohc. manual.

my haynes manual says something about pressure sensors are only in automatic and turocharged.

also if anyone has time or knowledge. i just rebuilt my engine. timing belt pulley broke so i had to have a valve job done. it runs really really good now but when autozone plugged in they gave me a #2 cylinder misfire code. the car seems to run to good to be running on 3 cylinders and i am under the impression that since it has a coil pack number one would have to misfire too?

any help would be great

i spent all my money rebuilding and live in califorinia and now i have to pass emissions

thanks again

jake

I had a 95 2.2 automatic and a 95 2.2 manual. The automatic I think I had the same error, and I replaced the pressure sensor marked #4 in the previous usmb link. The manual 2.2 didn't even have a pressure sensor near the strut tower.

Try a new spark plug, or wire to isolate the bad cylinder perhaps.

hey i was just thinking after i put the engine back in i had left a couple of air hoses off. i started the car and then the car idle rough and stalled. i figured out what i had done wrong. would that lead me to having trouble codes since i never reset them.
