RX RA dyno results!

Recommended Posts

I think this pretty much speaks for itself:

For those who don't know, the car is an '87 turbo coupe with and EJ20G from a '93 WRX type RA, and was built by Suberdave. The engine and ECU are stock (for now....) I believe the only thing left to say is ...and thanks again Suberdave for building one hell of a car!

HOTT.

My EJ20G RX is now finally pushing the right amount of boost... very fun!

I'll have to get to a dyno... did you go down to Portland for yours?

And how would you feel about a EJ swapped drive/photoshoot sometime this summer? Maybe somewhere out HWY 101...

nope, quite a bit more. he EA82t would be lucky to see 118hp at the crank (although I don't remember what it's rated at). this just put down 218 AT THE WHEELS!!! that's probably at least 250 at the crank.

I'm thinking the ea82t made 111hp stock, and the wrx type ra is rated at 276hp by subaru, but some beleive it makes more.

For comparison a stockk 02-03 wrx usually puts down 165-175 awhp, and it is rated at 227 crank

I did go to Portland. Rallitek was having a dyno day, and I figured it was a good excuse for a little road trip. A photoshoot/drive sounds awesome...how about whenever it quits raining....

that engine was only rated at 240hp by subaru at the crank. but i think that is a little low.

It seemed low to me too. There's a thread over on nasioc about it, and basically it said from a wrx = 240 HP, wrx-RA = 260 HP, wrx-sti RA = 280 HP. I haven't found any type of "official" website that lists the power outputs, but this certainly seems to agree with my dyno results. Especially when you consider that these "HP" ratings are probably actually in PS, so that would put the wrx-RA at 256 CHP. With 218 WHP, the loss would be almost exactly 15% which is spot on.

That much power in an RX is fun.

yes it is...and having that much power as your BASELINE is even more fun ;)

Nice numbers...keep it up! Let's see 300 AWHP!

A girl can only dream...though there's really no point in any engine mods until I upgrade the suspension...
