'91 XT6 worth?

Need more info. You also might do better posting on the old school forum.

91 XT6

Color

Condition

Miles

4x4 or 4x2

Auto

Manual

Anywhere from $100 to $3000 or so based on the description. I got my 88 with a few issues for about $400. Its still a real solid car and the paint is in real good condition but then again it is an auto 2wd.

The kid says it's clean and he has fixed the suspension once, said something about an oil pump related to the suspension, are these suspensions toublesome? what are some other things specific to these cars to look for?:)

Just a comment on the air suspension. IMHO, it is not worth buying it unless you plan to change out the air suspension to a std. setup( if it can be done ) and that may be too spendy. One of my "air struts" weathered and developed a leak. I was quoted a cost of around $1000 to fix it. I had to part with my 1988 XT6 for $400. It was a great car but the air suspension repair was to spendy to justify hanging on it. Hope this helps.

I went & looked at it, it runs out pretty good but a couple things consern me, 1) vibration at freeway speed, 2) the clutch catches right at the top of travel, It's done I'm sure, 3) the tranny was on the low mark and there was fresh oil I spotted on the side of the tranny, 4) the car looks like it sits kinda high, he said this is normal and it sits down when driving at higher speed, an is different every time he comes out of the house which I tend too believe he repaced 3 of the struts and an oil pump whatever that is to do with the suspension. The oil pressure runns at 45 psi while driving at speed and Iguess itwoul be 15-20 at idle. Any comments? would be appreciated by a knowlegeable onlooker. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\"> :D

Oil pressure sounds fine.

Varied height from high at low speed to lower at high speed....I think that is normal.

Clutch might just need adjusted but its more likely to need replaced like you are thinking. Oil leak could be a seal at the axle or a few others. Gotta look close to know for sure.

If u like the car get it inspected by a dealer.

On the vibration: Is this an AWD? Check the AWD drive axle joints. They may have to be replaced. I had to replace mine. Also check all the boots front and back.

The air ride sounds like it works fine. Does he have any paper work on those repairs. You can pretty much bank on replacing that 4th strut.

Oil psi is fine.

I had a few leaks on my XT6, all from the pan gaskets. I had three pans because mine was an automatic. Seems to be a normal thing on the older models.

However it makes sense to take the car to a subaru mech. to have it checked out. Good luck.
