January 12, 200818 yr I saw one of these models the other day it looked like a 2nd gen. sedan with a very high ground clearance...Anyways just wondering what the SUS stands for on the rear trunk area?...Was this some sort of special edition? Thank you in advance for you time and knowledge....
January 12, 200818 yr Author thank you very much sir....was just wondering because it was the only one i have ever seen with that badge on it.....i guess it makes perfect sense...
January 12, 200818 yr I think some of them are the prettiest cars that subaru ever made, especially in green or blue. I've only seen them in green. nipper
January 13, 200818 yr Author yeah i thought it looked kind of cool.....were there any special features offered with them?
January 13, 200818 yr Always liked the Outback sedans myself. Some day I'm going to find an early, white Outback sedan and put an EJ20H into it. GD
January 13, 200818 yr Nice shot OB99W, I like the color scheme. (kinda partial though -- it's the same as my OB) here's another that shows the higher OB stance a little better This was the model that Paul Hogan (Croc Dundie) was in some of the commericals for.
January 13, 200818 yr From my understanding, it was a limited edition for the NE region. No, they were offered all across the USA
January 13, 200818 yr Author I just saw another like dark blue one on my way out today....I'd definately drive one!
January 13, 200818 yr they are awesome, my favorite subaru since the XT6. they are a 1999 only model...though i think there's a very rare 98 or 2000 (forget which one) branded one as well. i'm essentially turning my Legacy LSi into one, i have a thread about the differences. it's essentially the paint scheme that makes most of the difference, at least in my opinion. higher stance which i don't want in this car. they have a hood scoop, different bumpers and i think most of them have leather interior and the wood grain trim as well. if it was an option, i see a much higher percentage of the SUS with these than other legacys like LS, LSi, and GT's. i have seen one without a hoodscoop, don't know if some were like that or it was a replacement from a wreck. i like maroon like the one pictured above and white, i'll probably go with white for mine just because it's easier to keep clean and i don't clean cars...often.

I think it was just the outback sedan for a while(97?98?). Then badged as SUS, (still an OB sedan though) for 99 and then continued so with the body change in 2000 until 2002? IDK if the "SUS" trim is any different than the regular outback sedans. Kinda reminds me of back when there where "DL" "GL" and "GL-10" XTs(85-86)
January 14, 200818 yr Kinda reminds me of back when there where "DL" "GL" and "GL-10" XTs(85-86) ha, ha, yeah they should have made a Legacy with no back seat!!!! those goofballs!
January 15, 200818 yr No, they were offered all across the USA Even in the first year it was released?
January 15, 200818 yr Even in the first year it was released? As far as I know. Granted that the East coast/Metropolitan area probably had a higher demand for them. Here in the West/Rural areas Wagons seem to be more appealing and in higher demand.
January 15, 200818 yr From cars 101.com " Reportedly there were only 801 SUS cloth and 6528 Limited 1999 SUS sedan models produced. " rare indeed nipper

January 15, 200818 yr we have one in the shop right now. 99 with a 2.5 that went to hell... Got an EG33 shoehorned into it and will be just a little while more till it is done. 5mt conversion too:) Should be a fun car Tom
January 15, 200818 yr http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/car/520650661.html that one has been listed for a very, very long time. they keep relisting it, can't sell it. which is bizarre since i sold an older 97 GT Sedan in Pburgh a few months ago for more than that.
