Fairtax4me Posted November 1, 2015 Share Posted November 1, 2015 Pull/push the input shaft. Any play in/out means the mainshaft bearing is bad. There is some up/down play normally. And now I can't select any gears (while the car isnt' running of course) Did we simply not get the shift fork aligned properly? We started with the car in neutral, but a helper of mine moved it around "playing with gears". Does the transmission need to be in neutral for re-assembly? Do we simply need to "line up" the 3 shifter rails? Do you have a picture of how that should look? Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your reply. Before I saw this, we already had just sealed the transmission back up.... AGAIN, after lining them all up in exactly that fashion. You confirmed it.
