on my 97 legacy L Sedan,

the rear view mirror is really loose. i constantly have to readjust it so i can see out the back window.

anyone with past experience fixing the same problem?

i was either just goign to take the ball and socket and put some glue in or something so it stiffens up.. or i dont really know. i was also considering just replacing it.. its so annoying

Thanks for any ideas.

hey yeah i saw the torx screw... its not loose from that spot.... its loose from the ball and socket... unless you are saying there is a torx screw on the side of the socket that i dont see......?

the torx screw tightens the piece that pinches the ball. i took mine apart and found a broken 'spring' piece of metal inside. i added someting to add friction, paper or card stock. mine still a little lose, but better than it was.

I had the same problem on my 1998 Legacy L. There was a little piece that surrounded the ball that was broken into pieces. That is why the torx screw would not tighten it up. I did glue the pieces together as a short term fix. This worked until I ordered a new mirror. The new one was surprisingly cheap.
