found a weber carb on rig at work.. will it work?

alright we got a 2.8L S-10 truck in the shop today and the boss is taking it on on a trade-in towards another car..

anyways long story short, its got a weber on it. Looks similar to the ones that are being put on the soobys I looked around on it and these are the numbers I found

 

38DG0AS4A2

 

so I assume its a DG series carb. its got an electric choke on it. Is this going in the right direction for a sooby?

most everyone uses a 32/36 dgv. My guess is that 38 in front is a barrell size. If the carb is a double barrel, look on the base of the carb on the secondary side, DGV should be stamped on it with barrell sizes above that.

I Believe it is the 38/38 DGAS Weber Carb... Look at the Primary / Secondary Actuator Mechanism, if Both Opens at the Same Time every Time the Accelerator Cable pulls, So it is a Racing Carb that Must be More "Gasoline Eater" than the Regular Weber Carb... but can Deliver a More Powerful Sensation too!

 

The Regular Weber Carb, which is the 32/36 has the Secondary to Open when the Primary Already Reached Around the Half Opening, Look at their Linkage.

 

Both can Work on Subies, but the 38/38 will Suck more Gas...

More work than it's worth. Used and jetted for a V6. After a rebuild kit, new jets, adaptor plate, and then it's likely to still be a tuning nightmare... buy a new one. Trust me on this. The amount of money you will save isn't worth the hassle.

That would be a nice carb on a 2.3l in a Courier though. I happen to know of one that needs it's Craptachi chucked..........

(I think that's what it is, might be a Mikuni)

Is the carb in good shape, or is it worn out? I was looking for one for my ford a while back and gave up when I couldn't find a good one.
