tmonkey51 Posted May 21, 2009 Share Posted May 21, 2009 I have a 88 4d coupe d/r. The boot on the axle is leaking grease from the big side. My plan is too cut the clamp off, slam some wheel bearing grease in there and put a new hose clamp on it. I'm wondering if there is some special kind of grease in there or just regular grease? GeneralDisorder Posted May 22, 2009 Share Posted May 22, 2009 It's an NLGI grade 2 with moly. It's black and slightly stringy. You don't have to buy the "CV" grease. That's a rip off. Just buy a tube of Moly grease - it will likely be grade 2 anyway as that's the most common. HOWEVER. You should clean all the old grease out completely as they could be incompatible.
