  1. I know it's an old topic but I did an ej22 swap in a brat a few years ago and never did get the original oil pressure gauge to work. I've heard the ea81 and ea82 senders are the same. How did the oil filter sandwich work out for you? Do you have any pics with the oil pressure sender installed?

  2. That is my next swap. I have a donor car with a 5 speed but it is the push button 4 wheel drive not the dual range. I wanted to get the engine in and moving and drive it until the 4speed took a dump then swap it out. Perhaps I should just swap it all at once.

  3. Checking the cable was the first step. I took it off from the fork. When I peeked down into the fork hole I can see it is being pushed slightly away from it's pivot point. I was told to use the ea82 flywheel but nobody said anything about having it milled down. I will pull it out and have it done up. Thanks

  4. Well the directions call for the Nissan one. Surprising this is the only part that has not gone smoothly. I've done lots of V8 swaps in Ford bronco IIs and Chevy s-10's even a few fuel injected and big block swaps into little trucks and nothing has been as easy as the Subaru swap. If anyone has done this and has any input it is greatly appreciated. Thanks again for the help so far.

  5. OK, I've got the engine installed and it started today. Thanks to everybody for the input and write ups. While it was running I thought I would pull it forward just a bit. I put it into gear and let out the clutch, nothing happened. I'm using the stock 4 speed from the 86 brat. I have an ea82 flywheel and pressure plate with the ea81 clutch plate. I used the Nissan throw out bearing. Everything went together like it should. Before I rip it apart does anybody have any idea what might be the problem?

  6. Not a bad idea, just make sure you keep them far enough away from the hot manifold or use steal braided. They will most likely move with pressure change like lines on a tractor. Watch out for rubbing and chaffing. Another idea would be to add some length and run them on the other side of the cross member. Just a thought.

My grandfather has been driving 18 wheelers since he was a teenager and back then when they wanted power steering they would just put a bigger steering wheel on the truck.

Let me know how you go about doing it, I am interested in doing the same swap.

  7. Ok good. I was worried that they had messed up 2/3 of my order. I wouldn't put it past them. I would go to Napa if it had to be right the first time but Schucks is cheaper and they take anything back. Thanks for the help, it must be late for you.

  8. Quick question and any advise or input also welcome. Ive got my 2.2 from a 95 legacy going into an 86 Brat. The Legacy is an automatic and I will be using the 4speed Brat trans until I find a 5speed. I ordered the xt clutch set but the one Schucks gave me was wrong, I've had this problem before. No biggie, I will just keep ordering and returning it until they get it right. I also got the Nisson 720 thowout bearing. Here is my question. Is the Nisson thowout bearing suppose to fit so loosely on the transmission input shaft?

  9. Ive got a fuel question. I am putting a n/a 2.2 in an 86 brat and am wondering about fuel lines and fuel pump. Should I use a pump from a turbo brat or put an aftermarket inline fuel pump in? Also, do I need to to upgrade fuel lines? Thanks.
