My '98 outback is doing the exact same thing yours did. Every now and again it runs rough and stalls. It throws the P0500, P1507, and P1540 codes. What did you ever find with yours? I bought a speed sensor today, but I think it may not be the problem. Can you email me at mattscott2 at gmail dot com. I will do some more looking but Hopefully you get back to me soon.
