What kind of suspension swaps for my 83 GL Wagon?

Featured Replies

Just wondering if I can upgrade the struts and junk. Not necessarily for a lift kit just a better ride.

no real performance aftermarket for these

A good set of new KYBs will make it alot nicer than the 26 year old struts on there now.

Thanks Bro! Didn't know if there were some newer model year suspensions that could swap. Have had old Soobies for years but never did much customizing. Just put a new motor and CV's in "Finn" and am drillin out my rotors and drums for 15's. Heard about rear disc conversions. Any info on that?

Also, what is my 1983 4WD 1800cc 4spd Wagon called? is it an EA 83? And what makes an EJ an EJ? Pardon my ignorance....I'm a little slow!!

Its an ea81 wagon as designated by the motor thats in it. The ea82 body styles were the 85+ wagons and such. Hatches and Brats were ea81's all the way up to 89. An ej car is any 90+ wagon, etc. All motor designated. And if you're serious, you can swap out xt6 parts and go with a 5lug setup, though its a bit of work.
