November 16, 201015 yr Just completed a 1500km round trip in my 81 brumby to go to a party. It was a slow trip but the engine didn't miss a beat. The only problem I found was when I went to turn on my headlights. Nothing. I had a multimeter on hand, and the top 3 fuses (headlight upper, headlight lower, tail light) have no power on either side. The top fuse was blown. Both fusible links test OK so it's not them, any ideas?
November 16, 201015 yr IIRC, the headlights are powered straight from the battery. The main power wire can get corroded and creates an open in the circuit. I had the same issue on my '78 Brat, I just ran a new wire from the battery to the headlight switch inside the cabin.
November 19, 201015 yr Author I found the problem. The bottom fuse supplies power to the three top fuses. It didn't look broken but had come detached at one end.
March 18, 201412 yr i have an 83 brat and my low beams do not work but my high beams do what could be the issue? ive checked the rotating light switch swaped it for a newwer working one still no lows. i looked at my column switch every thing looks fine there could i just be the wiring or something worse?
