EA Dual Port in what other cars?

Featured Replies

I was wondering what other cars besides the XT got the EA82 Dual Port engine (other than turbo models). I have a rebuilt engine from an 87 XT I'd like to stick it in something else.

That is all. XT got both NA and turbo versions of the MPFI dual intake port, and the turbo version was used in the 3-door, sedan and wagon.

thanks - I was afraid of that...

I have a guy offering me a 92 Loyal with a blown engine cheap (rod out the side) but he says the car is "like new" (yeah right) otherwise. I was toying with having a friend make me an adapter plate to fit between the singleport intake and the DP head and run the DP bottom end in the 94. Think it will work?

put the dual port heads on the single port's block. the blocks are the same, other than the single port will have a 9.0 compression, where the mpfi non turbo has 9.5, and the turbo has 7.7

hi, it could be done, the hard part might be to make the water passages work out , from the dual port heads through the adapters to the single port manifold. you could just put the single port heads , and the original intake from the blown eng on the mpfi engine, just some time and new gaskets ( not a bad idea anyway) if you plan to keep it for a while, and not have to make any odd parts. use the fel-pro permatorque hg's if you go this way, could do it in a day , it would take longer than that to even think up some adapters , much less make them.

He would also have to run the MPFI engine managment. Basically as much work as an EJ swap.

*note* There was an N/A, MPFI engine offered in the 85 and possibly 86 GL-10s. Mostly if not all 2wd. I've seen one, ....only one...., personally.

Ok then i misread that. Put the spfi heads on the mpfi block.

basically, swap the heads, keep the ones that fit tha manifold, use whatever block you can find
