Why fuel pump was on for 3 secs and then off..

 

When I turn key on and fuel pump was buzz and stop for 3 secs.

i was replaced ele. Fuel pump than carb pump.

 

Everything is good running when I put starting fluid.

 

87 Subaru gl ea82 carb manual.

No gas into engine..just 3 secs and gas got killed it.

The ECU primes the fuel system (runs the pump for 3 secs) and then turns off if it does not detect the engine cranking. Once the ECU starts receiving a crank signal it will turn the fuel pump on. This is a safety feature in the event you're in a crash, the fuel lines are damaged, and the engine has stopped. The ECU will shut off the fuel pump so it's not pumping fuel all over the place.

Yes.

When I starting the cranking... It's nothin to running..

But when I turn on key.. It was fuel hose was just flow a 3 secs and stop.. (not really good pressure, btw)

Is there spark or injector pulse? If the ECU doesn't see that the engine is turning over, it won't fire the fuel pump.

 

Also, did you use the fuel pump relay off the ej harness, or are you still using the stock one?
