Guest Flowmastered87GL
Just so everyone around knows... we have a rallycross May 11th (Sunday, Mothers day) at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Hillsboro Oregon. I will be there, and I'm sure many others will be (Edrach, BajaVWScoobnut maybe?, Syrinx?, Sean from rallitek? Subie Gal?)
Guest edrach
Flyer still isn't up yet. Apparently the master was lost when they upgraded the website. If anyone has an old flyer still in .pdf format, send it to them (or me and I'll forward it). It'll make it much easier for them to re-do a new flyer and post it. I'll certainly be there, and I think both of my sons will be there also. Looking to sweep the truck/suv class!

Guest Flowmastered87GL
I hope production is in the morning session. That way I can run (time only) in the afternoon for extra practice. I could even bring my rally tires
Guest edrach
Mike, Word is that the order of running will be opposite of how you ran on the last event of the last year's season. Based on that I posted my UNOFFICIAL information so people could make plans for the event in May.

Guest Witte
I'll try to make it. how rough is the venue exactly?? My WRX with its lowering and FMIC hanging out in the very snout of the car won't like a deep rutted or very uneven event. I mean it has decent clerence static but if it gets pitched up and comes back down right before a rut or a rise I need to be careful. Guest edrach
I did not find that venue that rough. However, ground clearance with the Brat has never been an issue (no, it's not lifted) and I can't go fast enough to make it dangerous for the car. There are others with a car more similar to yours who can give you a better opinion. I think you'll be fine.
Guest Flowmastered87GL
Hillsboro is pretty smooth other than in the back... ive hit some BIG ruts back there. Then again I slid a bit off course
Guest edrach
The course layout tries to avoid big ruts so if you stay on course you should be okay. The organizers try very hard not to let people get into trouble with their cars and ruts if you hit them wrong can flip you on your roof. Bad mojo for the club and the longevity of the sport. Guest Witte
good to know, the only rallyX I've been too had two sump eating places and one where it was very easy to highcenter on a pile of dirt between two ruts (I made said pile so I don't feel too bad about nearly getting stuck on it). The two sump eaters were avoidable if you drove right... and they were only sump eaters in one direction (one going CW one CCW), bad part was it was slick slick slick and my SHO wanted to do a full throttle 40mph drift around the long sweeping 110 degree bend between the two, which made selecting a non-sump eating line hard. You can see why I ask questions before going....
Guest Flowmastered87GL
best bet... show up really early and walk the course so you can decide before signing up... you can always ride shotgun in the
Guest UltimateRX
Just got off the phone with Ed about 15 minutes ago, he should be just past Olympia by now. The BRAT is in top shape, I hope he places, he deserves it for all the years of rallying he has put in. His toughest competition will probably be his son. Hey Witte, I didn't know you were in Portland now, I'd have stopped by last weekend.
Guest Flowmastered87GL
Grrrrr I'm bored... I need a night before rally beer On another note.... my car had its major issues today... the temp gauge was about 75% of max, usually its at 50%, the car took LOTS of coolant, not sure where it went The power steering took like half a quart too, a new pump is in the back at least though For the first time ever, I am like only 10 minutes away from the rally... having moved to beaverton has its advantages
Guest Witte
heh it kicked some rump roast.... ruts got REAL bad though as all the rally tired people were carving grooves in the wet stuff.
Guest Flowmastered87GL
the morning ruts were nice. I slid the back end out afew times and the ruts brought me back in line. General subaru discussion has a thread by me about what my car suffered from because of this rally
Guest Witte
Well the ruts were insane by the time open ran (last). I highcentered in a couple of sections... as in my muffler has mud packed against the front of it even now as I type. Biggest problem is my BBS rims would shave the edge of the rut and pack full of mud. So after every run I had to pull off several lbs of mud. Guest edrach
Witte, I'm sorry I couldn't stay long enough to meet you but I needed to get home and join a family dinner out for Mom's day. I hope you had a good time even with the high centering. Brat's kicked rump roast in the morning with 1st four postions in the Truck/SUV class. Strangely, no Jeeps showed up; can't decide whether they couldn't get up early enough for the 8am start or that we scared them all off last year. It was also a good time to meet/greet other local Board members. I'm going to miss waiting for the next one. 'Gotta find a few more sites to run events on. Guest rXSNRG
The rally was a lot of fun! I got to meet Ed and son, Richie, Baja and Witte, anybody I forgot? Did see Flowmaster too. It was fun to see Ed's Brat run, it did really well and Ed and his son are both great drivers. Witte did a great job of driving too and his car looked like it ran real well. Baja, were you driving the old blue wagon? I have a picture I can send you. It was fun to see that vintage iron out there! I arrived as Flow was just coming off the track so I didn't get to see his runs. Does anybody now who was in the black Brat out on the track? I ran my RX and that was fun, first racing experience for me since 1991, I was a little rusty. Can't wait till next time! I'll post the four pics my son Jake took before the camera broke. Baja? Black Brat Ed Ed
Guest edrach
the Black Brat was Brian (I forgot his Board name; I might even have his real name wrong--damn, I hate these senior moments). Event was a blast! Brats took 1st thru 4th in Truck/SUV class.
Guest Witte
I saw you guys run but looked like you took off right after the awards and they were doing the stuff for the afternoon.... I think the soobies were the only things with the tails out at all. Open class was a blast to watch as everyone was bloody FAST. I wasn't in the top 5 (the only places they told us about) and I ran faster than any other class from what I recall. IIRC my total was about 6min 30 sec. Guest rXSNRG
Witte, you looked great going around the track and it was obvious that you were running with the faster cars BUT some of those guys (and gals:) ) were really hauling. I've added a line to my sig after seeing all the beautiful WRX's:lol:
Guest Flowmastered87GL
Yes Mark, the blue wagon is Jason's (Baja) Errrr sorry about not recognizing you, I only met you that one time to pick up the tranny and that was only like 5 minutes
