November 20, 200619 yr has any 1 put an 5 speed gearbox into an 1400 coupe? i know it has been done? just wondering what has to be done and how hard would it be to do?
November 20, 200619 yr It's the same as swapping in a new 4spd. Same bolts, same mounts. The '75+ 1400 hardtops were the only Subies stateside to get the 5sp and the 1400 combination.
November 21, 200619 yr Author so nothing really has to alted to fit it in? im also going to use an ea71 motor in it also. i had heard of an guy that fitted 1 in and it was an tight fit as well as he had 2 modify something?
November 22, 200619 yr if you have the ea71 and box donor car use everything from it like cross members and linkages and you wont have any problems, but the 5 speed from a ea71 wont bolt straight up to a ea63, different bell housing
November 22, 200619 yr Author cool ive got parts from my old fwd leone i stripped down aye. my 1400 is fitted with EA71 motor its got the right addapter bell housing. but i wana go with 5spd gearbox in it
