March 4, 200917 yr My disty went out on the gen 1 and I have a spare from an 83. I am not sure whaich brand the one is in the 81, the replacement is a hitachi I believe. Do they swap out or do I need to replace with the same brand? Will the one from the 83 fit in the gen 1's ea81? Thanks.
March 5, 200917 yr I'm not sure if this will help you, but I had to go the other way around... shopping for an ignition coil, parts-guy told me I needed to match the ign coil to the disty, brand yes, but more importantly specs... since my disty is hitachi, went with hitachi coil... no probs... til my ecm fried, but thats another story... FSM filled in the gaps for me in terms of specs to match-up...
