New 2013 Outback owner in TN says Hello to all

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I just purchased a 2103 Outback with 78k about a month ago in a neighboring town from a Honda dealer in TN.

I am not quite used to the CVT and how it behaves.  On cold (30 F) mornings, it seems slow to change from first to second for about 2 miles.  Sometimes it seems like it is struggling and is often jerky.  Is this behavior normal?

Mechanic says the tranny fluid level is fine through the sight glass underneath, and the fluid does not appear to be discolorated or overheated.

Since I have a 90-day warranty on the drivetrain from the dealer, I'm wondering if this cold start behavior is normal, and if not, what is the probable cause and cure?

Bill
