Guest qman
Well, it's time for a moment of silence... I have finally laid my Monster to rest. I took it out for one last hurrah. She went out the same way she came in. No regrets and some more excellent video footage. I brought it off the hill with two flat front tires and a very crippled front end. She went onto the trailer under her own power though. Basically what happened is I ripped the drivers side front mounts out completely. Only thing holding those parts on are part of one torsion mount and the crossmember. Lot's of movement and some carnage to boot. We'll have pics up soon. Mourn the loss of one of the most reliable offroaders to date. 3 hard years on the trail. She will live again though. Qman

Guest 4X4MUDRAT
i've seen many cool subarus here in australia, i've owned several cool subarus, but qman, your hatch was my favourate, even more than brett's lifted RS liberty. RIP.
Guest ClintSC9
So you'll be setting up another Hatch?
Guest edrach
Sorry to see it go. I thought today was supposed to be a "light" day acceptable for unlifted "wimps" like me. I'm sure you have another waiting in the wings.
Guest Mike W
Yeah, I'd say that car has served you pretty well. I wonder what the original designers/engineers would think if knew what kind of stuff you've put it through? I bet you'll reinforce the heck out the next car you build up. Guest chef tim
Glad I got to meet it in person before it passed. I bet it had organ donor checked....... just the kind of 'Ru it was
Guest E Zap
Like a soldier. . . that little hatch has been 4 wheelin more than any other sooby ever I bet. (and I DON'T mean simple trails and mud puddles) We kinda figured that would be the case today anyways. . . You guys are gonna LOVE the new one. It's nice being privy to the good secrets. Should be some good footage indeed.

Guest Turbone
Damn, missed another one. Guess I'll have to come over and see the carnage. Rob
Guest rguyver
THEY NEVER DIE they just get new parts or old ones, even if it means you have to replace the body , my lifted 84 wagon "before the hatch" was rolled by my girl friend ( a ride better then disney land:lol: ) and i never morned it it just was reborn a 80 hatch with all the 4x4 parts out of the wagon . My friend has had 4 80's wagons all wrecked for some reason but you would never know because they all get the same paint skeem , black rocker gaurd:lol: and all the good parts but it is sad to see a good body go to the crusher I hope to see something on the next big 4x4 meet.|I
Guest shanonsf
RIP maybe there should be a virtual "Sube grave yard" on here to celebrate the rigsthat have brought us all so much fun:lol: gee, maybe Snow White might go there if she dont pass smog......................:rollin: shanonsf 82 GLW
Guest Flowmastered87GL
There are ways to get around smog  where are you at? If in oregon or MAYBE WA (but I dont think my plan would work for that) I am willing to help.
Guest Adam N.D.J.
She was definatly one of my mentors. It was seeing that hatch at the WCSS-2 that made me really want to lift my Brat. But of course, from one life, another will be born. I shall toss a stone into the Red Sea for you. Catch ya Laters, from BFE.
Guest qman
Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement. To answer to biggest question...yes...she will live again through organ donation. Bigger, maybe. Badder, most definitely. I will miss the car but I will not mourn her. She has brought many things into my life like hours upon hours of offroad enjoyment and and amazement to others. But rest assured that I'll be back with another one very, very soon. Note; my wife thinks this might be a suspicious death. She thinks I planned the whole thing so that I could build another one. Imagine that :rollin: :rollin: :rollin: :rollin: :rollin: See ya' on the trails. Qman
Guest Turbone
She knows you better than anyone else. But I would have guessed the same thing:D Why else would you have brought the trailer? Rob
Guest qman
Because it's over 100 miles round trip and I had a very important family function to attend. Promises were given and no excuse would be good enough.
Guest E Zap
Gotta vouch. The mortal wound to the hatch just opened up for apparently no reason. I'd bet it had to do with the last time we went out and all the wheelies that pushed it past its limit. Having the trailer in the parking lot makes for big cajones, you know that no matter what, you're gonna get it home.
Guest edrach
I suspect that the tough climb over the top after the Christmas tree run in Greenwater might have had something to do with loosening the front end. I thought it was going to flip over backwards on that one. True and reliable to the very end.

Guest UltimateRX
Man I hate it when our wifes figure things out. I think mine is still guessing. She thinks I'm building a race car. Close, but no cigar. Is rallying the same as racing????
