Help! is the IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE fixable?

My Legacy 1995 idles rough and my mechanic says i have to change the IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE,a part that costs $340...
i'll be happy to hear if anyone have an idea of how to fix this thing...:brow:

Is it throwing a check engine light? If not, you can try shooting some brake cleaner down the intake tube of the IAC valve. There's probably some gummed up carbon in there.

Yes,the check engine light is on....does it mean i can't clean?

usually if the light is on all the time, even after a reset....it's probably bad.

dude, if it is bad...POST for a replacement. Awhile ago I thought mine might be bad (turned out to be a cracked hose) but the people on this board ROCK. I had three offers to sell me one....all were about 1/8 the cost of retail.
