Finished my first transmission swap today! I had never even had a transmission out before, but today I finished the job on replacing the trans in my XT. Haven't had the car on the road yet, I still have a couple small things to put back together on the car, but at least the trans is IN!

Pic of me with the slain beast:

I'm gonna go have a beer....

Beer? what? someone said the magic word that helps any project move along. If something happens, well then its time for a beer and hopefully to either figure out the problem or figure out how to make it work. lol:rollin:

last time I was under the car, I was puttinf the rear control arm in, and had a tough time lining up the bolt holes...

Right when I got it perfect, I kicked my beer over, and naturally let go of the control arm ,and let it fall out of place, so I could save my last gulp!!!

Control arms come a dime a dozen, but beer....$10.99 a dozen!!! (for good sh*t anyway)

It's always good to sit back and praise a job well done with a cold one. I've done that a lot lately. I've even kicked back one for putting on my shifter knob. "is it a crime to have a 4spd knob on a 5spd?" Catch ya Laters.

A job well done deserves a cold one, or two, or three. Just don't have to many "while" doing the job, as it may not be well done. Matter of fact, I dove into a case of cold ones, after the reseal of the EA-82 in my '82 BRAT, right after I got her to fire up, still had to re-time the belts, but she was breathing again. 1st 'Ru engine for me. To Adam. Don't think it's a crime to have a 4spd knob on a 5spd. Will keep people guessing, especially the first time they're riding with you and you shift into 5th. I've got an 8 ball on my '82's 4spd, will transfer to the 5spd when it goes in......Tom

Steve, just saying "Well done Sir Loin" and congrats on the swap.
How hard was the pedal instal?

You should think of putting the most excellent photo in the "Faces with names" post on the Meet/Greet forum

You're supposed to have the beast propped up and holding it by the horns. But it's a great photo nonetheless!I like the way you bent over to hide the beer which has already been consumed.

Congrats,and good luck.Hey,nice car!!;)
