Ugly fuel tank.....

I'm probably gonna send this one off to get reconditioned, as it's from AZ, with absolutely no rust, but plenty of "stuff" for innards. this is basically what the insides look like too....

this is the fuel filler opening....

AZ probbably got it REALLY hot, and disipated all of the light fuels in whatever amount of gas was in the car when it was parked. Left the heavy varnish behind. That looks straight nasty. How do they "recondition" something like that? split the tank open?

I've seen some bad gas tanks over the years, but this one wins the "YUCK" Award, hands down. Just plan Nasty, it is........Tom

and there was also about 4 gallons of red fuel/varnish that had to be drained out before I removed the tank :x

nasty smell.....
