Guest jsocool Posted July 19, 2003 Share Posted July 19, 2003 Help!! i'm in th middle of changing a ball joint on a 94 legacy, everything was going fine, except now i can't get the ball to pop out ofthe socket. the bolt is out, the steering knuckle is spread, but still no luck on getting the ball out. to make matters worse, i need the car tommorrow. pleaase reply!! thanks in advance, jared Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest Tolerance02 Posted July 19, 2003 Share Posted July 19, 2003 I always drive a chisel in the split of the housing (knuckle?). Use a lot of penetrating oil. Putt the nut back on the joint and place a vise grip above the nut on the pin. Now you can hit with a hammer downwards to the vise grip. Once you see it moves hit the joint back in and out until it comes free. You also can try to hit a sharp chisel between the edge of the ball joint and the housing. Good luck! Urban.
