  1. i have searched and searched and searched, andlooked on the usrm(404 not found mostly) to find out exactly how to swap out the hunk-o-junk alternator in my xt for a 100A gm unit, or the part number that i will need, i have many dodge-style units in my garage that i can trade for a core.

any and all help and patience appreciated.

  2. well, i finished the swap of front struts from a 91 subaru 4wd loyale wagon onto my xt, it was harder than i was expecting, and it raised the front of the car 1.5 inches, i had to undo the sway bar and whack away with a board and a buddy to get the strut to slide into the knuckle, but it worked out well, now the car doesn't bounce down the road uncontrollably, it soakes up the bumps, now i need to swap the rears out and all will be good.

  3. i have an intercooler off a 92 talon tsi that i am tryin to make work on my xt, i need to figure out the routing for the pipes, i can't decide on top-mount of front mount, front would be easier i think, but then the routing of the tubes comes into play again, if anyone has pics of past installs that they could send off to me for more help would be great.

i have some of the tubing, and the bov already mounted on a peice of angle pipe(pics to follow).

  4. well, the exhaust fell off my car xt today, i was driving down the road, and missed the center hump on the road caused by heavy trucks sitting, and the pipe from the end of the downpipe got riped off, luckly there was noone behind me, i stopped, threw it into the back of the car(wasn't hot) and continued on my way, turns out the pipe wasn't even connected to the muffler and the downpipe, so now i need to figure out what to do, what is the best size of pipe to use on these cars, i don't want to have to do the exhaust again, is 3" too big, or will 2.5" be good enough to support the mods planned?

  5. Only takes one time to kill yourself or someone else.

going over 120, you're lucky he didn't give you a reckless driving ticket and take your licence.

i understand what the majority of people who have/are goin to read this thread might say, and i know that speeding kills, i keep my speed down to a respectable 5 over for the sake of others and myself, but even the best of drivers have taken the speed up over the "respectable" level.

i do not support or condone speeding or street racing, thats y i participate in sanctioned autocross thats held here on base.

    just to calm things

  6. i just came back from a drive in the xt, and i got a ticket for 281 dollars, doin 122kph in and 80kph zone, i won the race against the chev s10, but when i started to slow down, i caught the reflective tape of the cop, and he gave me a ticket, didn't know wtf i was driving, so i kindly told him what it was, and he laughed, but i still got a ticket.

  7. all my training is tellin me that there is a short somewhere in the starting circuit, caused by a jump in power, or the jumper cables not bein placed right, when jumping a car it is best to put the neg cable of the calbes on the engine block to prevent a short, or surge, trace all the wires to the starter and teh coil to be sure, and then check the fuse block.

    hope that helps

  8. well, we just got the first snowfall of edmonton, so i went for a drive, put the xt into 4wd, and stood on it, and wow, it squatted and left, crank the steering wheel, and she turned excelently, never thought driving in the snow would be this fun, so i tried to get her sideways, and after some good flicks, she went sideways, and i stood on it somemore, and it stayed sideways for 2 full doughnuts, was excelent, the next time i go for a drive in the snow i will bring my videocamera to catch some of the fun, can't wait till i fix the front suspension and get on the snow covered dirt roads and get some "rally" action goin

  9. i am in the process of tryin to figure out what i could do to my car to make it fast, i know it isn't a greatly modified car, so anything at all would help, regarding suspension, drivetrain, engine, exhaust, fuel and air, anything.

any and all help greatly appreciated.

  10. got it started, turns out i am just and idiot and didn't reconnect the coil wire after installing the new starter(d'oh), so i had to hold the go pedal to the floor to get it started, took bout 20 seconds to get started, but it idles nice, but now it runs really hot, i took the thermostat out to try and remidy this, but it still runs hot.

    any ideas to this one?
