From the sounds of it I would say that the blocking ring is very worn. it wont be cheap

the manufacture date is July 1983, so it could be an '84 depending on when the cut off date is.
its a manual, 2wd 5spd
I dont know about the lifters
i think the wires were black with a red strip and yellow, i'll check this tomorrow.
Thanks

ok, it could be an '84, i checked the tag in to door and it had the date 7/83.
The speedo is working. i am getting code 22, when i had the dash apart to fix some other stuff, i noticed that the 2 wires coming off the back of the speedo werent pluged into anything.

Hey everyone,
I have an '83 GL wagon, the vehicle speed sensor is unpluged and i havent been able to find where it plugs in, or which wires coming out of the ECU plug into it. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this?
Thanks

if it goes away when off the gas, i would say its the inner cv joint, I just bought an axle from car quest and it had a bad inner joint

the only other thing i can think of is the pressure plate has some bent fingers

I would check the splines on the transmission input shaft

Thanks, whit those instructions it was easy to do it. but now i have another problem, when i took it out for a test drive, something started ticking when on the gas, as soon as i let off it stopped, i went back through everything i had done, i couldnt find anything, so i took it out again, and it was doing it again, the faster went the faster it ticked. I was thinking this is the inboard joint. What do you guys think?

Reminds me of the time me and some friends bought an 84 hatchback and cut the top off rear of the door frames and took it out for a spin to get parts, and on an on ramp my friend was doing about 65 on when it was marked as 35, we got drifting a bit and for a few seconds we were on 2 wheels
good times

I went through the wiring and found that the sensor is unpluged, does anyone know where it plugs into?

Limited slip help give you traction, it helps keep the tries turning at the same speed

Hi,
I have an 83 sube wagon 2wd 5spd, The ECS light kept coming on, so i pulled the code and it said it was from the vehicle speed sensor. I looked that up in my repair manual and it said because it was hard to acces call the dearler.
I would appricate anything you can tell me about this.
