  1. ha! so it sounds like a good deal if I go and it seems to be in great shape? I just don't want to get it if all the sudden I will have to pay "1 milliioooon dollars" to fix head gaskets and all sorts of stuff immediately. I don't mind doing that quite a ways down the road if I need to repair stuff.
  2. Great opinions, thanks! The price is low because the seller is relocating out of the country for a new job promotion. So, assuming this is true, that explains why he needs to sell the car. And he hasn't found anyone in his short search, however dealers will buy it off him, so that's his last resort. He is moving within a week.
  3. Hey all, I'm new here. My wife has a 00 impreza outback sport, and I'm thinking about getting a 03 impreza rs 2.5. I have found one for a great price. I need to know what issues these cars are known for and if people would recommend the car. Right now I drive a 1989 Volvo 740 turbo that's in good shape. The car in question is about a 4 hour round trip drive from me, so I want to figure this stuff out to know if I'm serious about it before taking a long trip. The car has mid 80k miles on it. It was a southern car for most of its life. Runs mobil synthetic oil. Has never had anything fixed or replaced on it except a rim. Needs new brake pads probably. Owner said it has this issue: "It doesn't like to accelerate at full throttle when it is very low on gas, at or below the E line on the gauge. The engine RPM will cycle repeatedly from high to low revs and you need to back off. I have only had this happen on very low fuel." Otherwise it's supposedly in excellent shape. I need to have an idea of if all sorts of things usually go wrong after 80k miles, and also what sorts of things to look for if I go check it out. Is it a good car? Should I just keep my volvo and try to make that last forever and save myself the money? I figure that it will need stuff done to it eventually if it hasn't needed any repairs yet. Any and all opinions are appreciated. Thanks!
