Ok, so after many electrical gremlins, I THINK it's safe to say that the car is good to go again. In the last few months I have suffered from a bad optical sensor in the distributor, bad computer, and the mechanics have spent hours tracing wires searching for the problem.
So yesterday the mechanics replaces the bad CPU, takes the car for the test drive, and BAM! there goes the timing belt lol. But at least the car is back, now the tires on the back are starting to show threads because the alighnmint. I currently have 185/70/13 tires, but I found some like new all 4 for 50$, the only problem is that they are 155/80/13. The car is strictly on road, and is lightly driven. Should I buy them?

well my only car is down right now. 93 loyale 5spd ea82. factory AC and all of that stuff....
I need to replace water pump. so far its a PITA! Help.

yea i fixed the wiper motor, alls i did was jiggle the blades a few times, unplug the connector and take the motor apart and back together lol, works tho:banana:

The optical sensor INSIDE the dist. was bad. rather than buy a new dist, and considering there are no JY around here, it turns out he had a dist from an older nissan where he took that optical sensor and it worked! cool huh!?
now on the next note,
I just gotta figure out why my wiper motor dont work....hmmmmmmm

all of the connections and basic things have been checked and re-checked. I will mention the ig. amp. to him. how can he check it?

he said that the computer sends out the signal but the distriuter is not recieving it or something along those lines.

i already HAVE done all of that. after reading posts about ditzys failing i am 80% sure that it is the cause. I also experienced the jumping tach before hand. is there any way i could buy the ditzy from you, and trade it back for my money if that is not the problem?

well when i tested it myself before the shop did, it had power going to the cap but not to the plugs, so its definately disty related from what i could tell.

i just want a cheap one that will work for another 100K. haha
i have cap and rotor etc. your sure it will work on my car? My car has been in the shop for like 2-3 weeks.

So the shop tells me that it is my distributer is the reason it wont start. It aint sending out the spark signal(but it recieves it). So who/what will work in a 93 Loyale 5spd. pushbutton 4wd? I need a distributer ASAP. What you got?

Wow i kinda forgot about this site....i got a new car (93 Mercury Grand Marquis) so I havent really messed with the subaru a whole lot, I towed it to my schools autoshop, but the teacher doesnt know much about electrical, so instead of helping me, he would just give me printouts from mitchell-on-demand on what to do. Now my mom is in need of the car so I finally just said f**k it, and brought it to the shop that my friend works at. I will keep you updated with what the actual problem is once they find it.

Im 90% sure the ECU is fried. Anyone have onw that will work on a 93 Loyale 5 Spd. Pushbutton 4WD?

pull the 3-4 relays from under the dash (they could be well hidden if never touched before) and see if any are burnt..
all relays (4-5 of them) work and clicked when plugged in.

If they are okay then move on to the ignition relay which is under the dash. Tapping on it may make it work temporarily. Another spot to check is the connector for the ignition switch. Sometimes the main terminal in the connector goes bad and burns the contact terminal.
Can you emphasize a bit more for me please. What do these parts look like? The fusible links and fuses are fine. The ECM is not on(o2 light wont flash). I know that the bulbs are fine. The car wont fire because the ECM has an "open" circuit?

So I figured out part of the problem.
There is some type of short under the dash near the fusebox on my 93 Loyale.
After wiggling some wires around I could get my CEL/ECM to turn on. The car started! Now the CEL/ECM is off and no matter how many wires that I wiggle, it wont come back on. What supplies power to the ECM? Are there fusible links? Where do I start? I need to fix my car tomorrow because school starts Monday.

I would sell my 93 loyale, 5spd, pushbutton 4wd, and Im not that far from you.
156000K, new tires, newer alternator, new radiator, clutch replaced about 25000K ago, new water pump and belts, new computer, new timing belts, new exhaust, has had a crack across the passenger windshield for over a year and it hasnt grew. AC and heat work good. 900$?
I'll get pics if ur interested?
