    Is it normal to have to replace multiple gaskets, other than head gaskets, on a 98 Outback, AT, with 80,000 miles? My dealer tells me I need to replace the trany separator plate gasket, valve cover gaskets and 2 or 3 others...to the tune of $2000. We're starting with the trany separator ($800) since it leaks the most and on the exhaust - that stinks.

    I'm new to the message board. I own a 1998 Outback with 78,000 miles. I have a problem with a rough idle while in gear...annoying. The dealer continues to say everything with the engine is set correctly and the Subaru's idle as such. Anyone have any ideas? I've tried a couple of rounds of injector cleaner but that didn't seem to change anything. Out of gear, the idle is definitely less noticable.
