Lurch

Well the exhaust is modified but i have had the exhaust modified two years ago and only in the past two months it has been popping... i understand what you mean.... I have just replaced my battery yesturday with a high performance battery and the car's popping has halved....Weird:brow: ... I am planning on taking the car to the mechanic in a couple of weeks when he returns from his honeymoon.... the last mechanic was a joke:mad: Thanks guys and gals, i will be mentioning this to the mechanic.... With all this info hopefully it will save me some money..

Please help My exhaust(sports) on my 98 forester is making a lot of popping sounds The spark plugs are brand new and the exhaust has been checked and that's not the problem... The sound mainly happens when i softly push the accellarater down and when i let go it lets of a pop or two.. I also have noticed that since the problem has started that my fuel isn't lasting. The car is also hitting 200,000km mark. i think that's about 120,000miles Could this problem be related to the fact that my speedo doesn't work and my engine light is on.. any help would be much be appreciated Thanks, Michael

yes the mechanic has put it on the computer, it said the car was fine.......i'm taking it back to him today to checkit once again, to see if anything come's up... What i mean by mofidied exhaust, i have 2 1/4in running from the cat back and a cannon exhaust. It sounds like if the car is doing a lot of small back fires.. pop pop pop pop only when i softly touch the eccellarater, but today it's starting to do it even when i take my foot of the accel.... I'm not sure if this is all connected, but it all started at the same time... Thanks, any help would be much appreciated Michael

Hi everyone I've just got this problem recently.... My speedo stopped working and my odometer is on, but it is only reading the last recorded k's on it. The engine light is on also, i have a modifed exhaust system on the car which the exhaust is just popping.( the exhaust is fine)...... The car just had a complete major service done to it, the mechanic has no idea... Can anyone help PLEASE

Hi I just stumbled accross this site looking for help with my forester..... What a great site..... Anyway i have had my Subaru now for about two years, apart from the unknown problem i'm having at the moment the beauty keeps on moving..... i have owned a few other non subarus over the years and nothing comes close.. i'm a subaru man for life now... Hi, i was interested in knowing if the problem got fixed.....? At the moment i am having the same problem, My speedo isn't working and my odometer is on but it's stuck on the last number that was on the screen before the problem started, also the engine light is on... One other thing is that i have a modified exhaust system on my forester 98 and it's making a lot of popping sounds, the car has just been completely serviced and need spark plug leads and new sprk plugs have been added, the exhaust it self is in perfect condition, it has benn checked by a exhaust specialist........
