S.T. Had this problem too, only simple solution after months of fiddling was to stick a shaved foot pad ( the type used on the legs of kitchen chairs to prevent the floor from scratching ) on the inside of the door where there is contact with the switch to the dome light. I put a oil sticker over it to hide it and keep it in place. It worked for 4 years!

Sadly my 2001 Forester was side-swiped and the back wheel-well partially replaced. I just noticed rust forming in the area of the wheel-well where there welding took place. ( exposed bare metal ) I would like to coat the newly exposed area with the secret subaru compound which they spray under the wheel wells to prevent rust. Can it be re-applied? What is the best way to do this and where can it be purchased. Pat
