K.. this is where I am at... My friend that has the hoist is out of town working in Florida. But I jacked up the car and grabbed the driveline and it had no play in it. (tried to move it up and down. side to side. back and forth.) The sound does increase with speed but I don't want to drive it the way it is. The tranny fluid is a dark red in color and contains no metal shavings in it. The passenger side axle was replaced 2 weeks before the noise appeared. The drivers side axle was replaced less then a year ago. When I did have it on the hoist we removed the passenger side axle and ran it. and then removed the drivers side axle and ran it. But the noise still presist. We put the fuse in to make it front wheel drive and held the rear tires while the car was in drive and the noise was still there... All I can think of is that something broke in the differential and not in the tranny section. If I am not mistaken that the differential is bolted to the rear of the tranny just before the input shaft from the driveline... Hope this sheds some more light on my problem
