  1. so i desperately need help with this strut on my brat as i need the brat out of my friends shop this weekend... I put a jack under the strut and jack it up putting the cars weight on it and no compression. i put spring compressers on the springs and it just compresses the springs and if i put them on the top and bottom it just bends the sturt at the top, bottom or middle. Is my strut completely shot??? If it is, is there any way to get it back on anyways and would it be safe to drive for a short distance???? THANKS! p.s. yes i pounded the bump out to clear room for the strut
  2. if it is lifting the body that should be enough weight to compress the strut right? is there any other way to pull the ball joint in?
  3. quite a ways, what worries me though is my strut on this side is not compressing at all where as the one on the other side actually compressed?
  4. I was using a floor jack and it was just lifting the whole body off of the jack stands...
  5. so i had everything on my brat for my lift and am putting the lower ball joint back in and the strut on the driver side of my brat will not compress... any ideas? do i just need to bite the bullet and buy a set of new ones? or did it spin and lock or something?
  6. I recently put a 5" lift on my brat the only 2 major things left on it are break extensions and longer shocks for the back... anyone been through this and have any ides???

  9. ya it was on flat surface but should it be such a big fluxation of oil just in the valve train if i have just turn it off?
  10. ok so this may be a really dumb or obvious question but.... I have an 82 Gl wagon with a EA81 and if i check the oil level while it the engine is cool and has not been driven in awhile it shows full but if i check it at the gas station it shows it needs a quart Which one do i go off of??? I am running synthetic oil
  11. ALRIGHT FINALLY SOME PICS!!!!!!! WHAT DO U THINK???? http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=15519&size=big&cat=recent
  12. So over the last couple days I have putting a 5" lift on my 86' brat and it is coming along nicely. The back is done except for the brakes and the shocks. I have the front lowered and ready to block it. Where the heck does this anti-pitch adapter go? &limit=recent[/url]
  13. Fixed! just said the heck with it and ran a new wire from the fuse box to the switch
  14. Alright so after further testing.... I have no juice coming into the switch. When i run a wire straight to the switch the brakes work fine. So i guess the question is where the heck does the wire going into the switch come from?
  15. Does anyone know where I can get the pug lugs at?
  16. got the full set of 4 plus the spair for $50!!! can anyone tell me if I need the special lugs or not? and are they alloy or steal? (they are 15" and came off a 505) http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=15300&cat=500&ppuser=18066
  17. So i was able to get my hands on a set of 15" pugs but i am missing 4 of the lug nuts where can i get a set? the pugs came off the 505 model. Also i am getting ready to lift my brat. It is a bit older and has not been taken very well care of before it got into my possesion, should i replace the cv's, bearings, joints, and struts while I am at it? With this 5" lift wat size tires what be best considering power and more clearance? Thanks!
  18. i need to replace the tail lights on my 86'brat, and I mean the whole tailight component. what other years and models could i pull them off of in a junkyard?
  19. The fuses are good and i no that at least one of the light bulbs is good as i just replaced it the switch beneath the pedal seems to be depressing right
  20. so my brake lights on my 86' brat aren't working... the actual lights work when i turn on the headlights but when i hit the brakes there is no change... i have checked the fuses and all looks good, just replaced the flasher any ideas?
  21. thanks that helped alot
  22. So i have an old 86' brat that i want to fix up but am limited on the funds and so i would have to do much of the body work myself but i have very little knowledge on how to do most of it. My friend though has all the sanding equipment and i was wondering how much work is it to sand down a car and remove a substanital amount of dings dents and holes. And is it possible to just bondo most of them before priming? Or what would be the best method? thanks any advice would be greatly appreciated
  23. I was just looking for a set on ebay
  24. Will the four lug pattern from the older fords work on the 4 lug subaru pattern?
