  2. I have a Subie CD of tech publications and had a good gander through it looking for just such a relay. If there is one I cannot find it
  3. Did this get resolved yet? My 93 Legacy Estate (Wagon) had water in the driver footwell after rain last year. Took me about a month to discover the cause. There's an electrical cable run between the door controls and the main body. This cable bundle is sheathed in rubber and sealed each end. The rubber sheathing chafes through by rubbing against the car body every time you open the door. When it rains water is guided from the bonnet and screen down a channel between the body and door and straight into this fractured bundle ending up in a footwell. As an added comment, by the time you notice the leak it most probably has corroded the connectors just inside the main body.

  6. '93 Legacy Wagon Like I said : radiator fan runs constantly. The temperature gauge always gets to (and stays) at normal. I read some posts about yuccky connection to the temp sensor at top front of block and sure enough mine looks pretty rough but seems to work OK. Fluid levels OK and no leaks. Am I missing something? Is there yet another temp sensor I'm not aware of?

  8. I looked on the block. When I'd brushed off the crud I could clearly see "EJ20". And DOHC also. So thanks for that. Now I can post with more confidence
  9. Hey. Thanks guys. But a little confused. Is there any way, by examining the engine, I can determine whether it is an EJ 2.0T? Note taken about the posting place - just thought 15 years old to be old BTW, if you haven't a 2.0T in North America, what Turbo models do you have? I note in another post a reference to an XT Turbo Legacy in North America. Ooops nearly forgot to appreciate the welcome. Thanks
  10. Hi all. Sort of newb here but I liked the "sube family" post Before I start asking for help maybe someone could tell me how to identify my engine type? Like is it an EA81T, or what? And are there specific English, (OK, UK), engine versions? Like I said: Jan 93 Turbo, 1994cc, 196 bhp (maybe not now?), Estate - you call 'em Wagons I believe. I just love this car It's done ca. 185,000 with quite a few bits replaced from scappers, (springs mostly) but it goes like no other car I've ever owned. And I had quite a few over the last 45 years. P.S. How do I include pics in my posts?
  11. I have a RHD 93 Legacy Turbo Estate (which I guess you call a 'wagon'). Had water coming in to foot well and soaking carpets. Had to take dashboard out (don't panic!) before I found the cause...you shouldn't need to if yours is leaking in from the same place: On both driver and passenger side there is a wiring loom between the body and the door. This loom is covered initially with a rubber glove which corrodes and splits. Unhappily the loom comes from higher up the door than its entrance into the body. Rain water, especially when it's heavy, is guided to run down between the door and body right over these wiring looms. So split loom = water dripping into cab. I removed the side panels adjacent to outside leg ankle height which reveals a cut out in the body where connectors are stuffed, (it certainly looks like that), so pulled out the connectors which reveal the grommet allowing entrance of the wiring loom from the door. Disconnect the plugs and work the grommet out, (it comes out easily). I used a rejected inner tube from a bycicle? to re-sleeve the loom sealing it with silicon before replacing. That's the easy part. Now you have to repair the corroded connectors where the water has been dripping. Some are OK with scraping and spraying with WD40 others I had to by-pass with pluggable crimped connectors. Hope this helps:rolleyes:
  12. I assume by "combination meter" you do mean the instrument panel? I have a rev counter and a speedometer. Sometimes reads correctly. Other times zero to anywhere up to max. Yesterday it held at 140 for ca. 10 miles then OK. Five minutes later zero. Day before driving to work was at 160, evening return dropped back to normal, etc., etc.
  13. Classic windscreen leak? Thanks for the comment but how do you identify it as classic? I rang a winscreen replacement co for a price to remove and refit the screen and they seemed to think that it is unlikely to be the screen. Oh dear! It's developing a crack smack in the middle of the A area.
  14. 93 Legacy Turbo. Speedo is intermittent. I am an electronics engineer and think I can diagnose the problem: dry joint? But how do I remove the instrument panel?
  15. 93 Legacy Turbo RHD 155K Service 100% After/during rain water drips down behind dash into foot well. Carpets removed and trims. Can see drips coming down cables next to right foot. Sun roof is taped up with gaffer tape so no leak there. Cleaned up trash from inside of windscreen trim in case water being diverted under screen. Where to look next?
