  1. Hello guys its been a long time since I needed to come here for help, but I need it now. Car info: 1986 Subaru XT GL (if you need more just ask) Background info: A couple of months ago my headlights would only work when the highbeam switch was pushed in completely. However, that was a problem seeing that once I pushed in the highbeam switch it would push back out without any tampering. When the high beam switch was in the out position the head lights would turn off, producing no light whatsoever (all other lights worked just fine and still do). I fixed this by shoving a rolled up piece of paper in the high beam switch forcing it in to the in position and thus allowing the headlights to work. Recently while driving on the highway my headlights would flicker and/or turn off completely for a few seconds. I got scared and checked to see if the high beam switch was pushed in all the way, it was, when the headlights came back on. Thinking it was just a freak occurrence, I paid no attention to it until it started happening more and more frequently. Since then I avoided driving at night for fear that my headlight will shut off permanently, when I remembered that this board helped me on 2 separate occasions (fixing an engine noise and fixing my radio). I now come to this board again for any help on how to fix this problem of mine. So, How do I fix my headlights from randomly shutting off? Thanks for any help.
