  1. The PVC valve is located near the throttle body .... just to the left of it. It is screwed into the manifold and connected to a rubber hose.
  2. Last night my 2000 Legacy GT with the SOHC 2.5 litre phase II engine began to run very rough and had no power. The check engine light then came on and stayed on until I made it home. I plugged in my code reader and it revealed a misfire at the number 4 cylinder,at which point I removed the number 4 sparkplug wire and found the boot to be covered in what looked to be engine oil. Once the engine cooled I removed the sparkplug and there was no evidence of fouling. Is this a sign of an external head gasket leak that I have heard so much about or could it be something else ? I plan on changing spark plugs and wires and see if that helps. Any other suggestions ? The car has 62000 miles on it and has had no other problems .... love the car.
  3. Blitz You are correct in the wheel bearing idea. A buddy did about the same thing with a curb and a Dodge Caravan. There was a noise around 35mph and once the wheel bearing was replaced, the noise was gone. Good Luck.
  4. What is the correct amount of oil to add to the engine of a 2000 Legacy GT after an oil and filter change? The owner's manual calls for 4.5 liters (4.75 us quarts) in the EJ25 engine, but when I add this amount,it is well above the full mark on the dipstick. This is the first Subie I have bought (recently) and am wondering if this is a common thing or could it be an incorrect dipstick?
