  1. Thank you so much for the detailed fix info. My Daughter brought the car to the (non-Subaru) dealer where she bought it used, and they *said* they blew out the drains. But your explanation of the disconnected drain tube makes a great deal of sense: the tube is loose, so of course it would *seem" clear if air were blown into it... So we have our work cut out for us. many thanks, Ken
  2. Thank you all for the suggestions. I love the nail one... :-) I will do some digging around, now that I know what some of the possibilities are. I am new to the forums and appreciate being told about the "stickies" up top. thanks again, ken
  3. Thank you both for the suggestions. We will give the drains a good looking over, and cleaning out. Many thanks! To answer the question about where the water shows up, the car is parked on a slight incline, nose up, and the water was draining out of the rear seat belt shoulder harness "accessory port" (there is only one of them, on the ceiling, in the rear seat, passenger side.) It dripped on to the rubber mat (fortunately) that covers the floor of the cargo compartment. Thanks again, ken
  4. My Daughter's 2001 Forester has a leaking sunroof. The gasket seems intact. I have wiped both the gasket and its seat under the roof with a silicone lubricant, and everything seems clean. It still leaks in a heavy rain. Any suggestions on where to go from here? Thanks, ken
  5. My daughter's 2001 Forester has a loose heat shield. What is the fix? Can it be welded, or is there a mounting bracket that can be replaced, or should the whole heat shield be replaced? thanks. ken
