  1. Here is the abbreviated version of the first post in this thread.

"Waaaa, I bought an old Soob and stuff needs fixin' on it! Waaa!

    sniffle sniffle"

Haha! I just bought my '93 Loyale about 6 weeks ago...

Replaced the governor gear about 2 weeks later (luckily I have a great mechanic..I'm a lousy mechanic..but learning)

...today...seems the governor gear or worse is going out...can't drive in "D", but can in 1st and 2nd gear a bit...

Replaced the windshield this week (had bad crack...dangerous on the highway)...some guy ran into my tailend and broke the tail light (another 50.00 from Capitol City Import Salvage) last week...

But...still have faith that there's still a bit of good drivin' fun in the ol' girl..I hope!

    Good luck OP!

  2. I live in Austin and the door panels on my Loyale are also badly faded, almost look "boiled"..no more texture on the vinyl.

I tried Armourall, etc, but no luck. I'm going to get a dashboard cover to help protect from any further damage to the dash, and keeping car in the garage as much as possible.

I wonder if the vinyl could be recovered?

Or maybe the vinyl could be "stained" to deepen vinyl to it's original color?

  3. Welcome!

I'm new here, too and have a Loyale ('93) 2WD wagon.

I've gotten a lot of great advice from the Soob Experts on here (much appreciated!).

I used to own a 87 Legacy wagon AWD, and REALLY miss having AWD now..not only was it great for the hills out here in Central Texas, but somehow having AWD makes the car seem not quite so "nerdy" hahaha!

I'm thinking of a lift kit and other mods, but I'm just learning about how to work on the "Loyale with Cheese" (as I call it!).

  4. VERY nice job!

That is the ONE thing that is driving me crazy about my new-to-me 1993 Loyale is the lack of cupholder.

I bought some piece of...well, you know...thing at Auto Zone and tried strapping it onto the console, but it just slides off, and I refuse to bolt it on.

I set my drink on the coin-holder spot by the shifter, and it just gets all puddle-y, and the drink just tips over.

Thanks for the tip! Guess what I'm gonna Google tonight? (Daewoo, etc...)

  5. Well... I need the Back Seats Head rests, and the Trunk Cover (I don`t know exactly their names in English) for my two Wagons (Loyales) ...

I Know that both things are just "Luxury" Things, but here, I do Preffer to have the cover on, hiding any stuff I got on the Back of my Wagon from the Thieves...

    Do you Got `em?

Hahaha! know...I want the Luggage Cover ( I think that's what it's called) myself! Hahaha! I just bought a 1993 Loyale and am missing that..

BTW, Loyale 2.7 Turbo..I LOVE the yellow Loyale...it is FANTASTIC! :)

  6. I just bought my '93 Loyale on Craigslist in Austin last week.

I have to agree, Craigslist is where it's at. I had a very bad time trying to find ANYTHING on Autotrader...most cars were overpriced, or the seller just wouldn't contact me after I e-mailed.

I'm extremely happy with my purchase, great car...and not a bit of rust!:D

  7. i just got an original still in the plastic set for my 86 wgn the other day...86 thru 94 will fit...they were$34 for all 4, including shipping from a subie dealer in new york...let me know if ya need a phone number...:)

I'd be interested in that number..

I'm looking for some for my '93 Loyale! :)

    Thanks in advance!

  8. As a fellow '93 Loyale owner (wagon!), I agree...this board does ROCK! hahaha!

Nice pics, hope to post some of my own soon!

Living in Austin, most of the Subarus I see are not only mechanically sound, but also have very little rust problems...and parts are pretty easy to pick up.

  9. Just bought a lovely '93 Loyale about a week ago...A/T...2WD...nothing wrong with it except A/C leak..138,000 miles...

Had oil change yesterday, with nothing done to transmission fluid.

Had recharge done on A/C today with UV dye added to check location of leak. This done by certified Subaru mechanic (he's great!). So I ran the A/C while driving today (nice cool air!).

While riding around later this afternoon, the car just froze up and started hesitating...would drive only in 1st and 2nd gear, not in 3rd ("D" on shifter).

I know this is a "noobie" question, but does this sound like possibly a VERY expensive problem to fix (new tranny?) or possibly something else going on.

The previous owners had provided me with all servicing receipts and had always had it serviced by the above mentioned Subaru mechanic and had no apparent probs except the A/C leak.

I bought the Haynes repair manual, not much help with tranmission probs..

I have some car repair experience, but not much as far as transmission stuff.

    Thanks in advance! :)
