  1. Driver seat in my 99 OBW gets really uncomfortable on any trip lasting more then 1 hour. The seat cushion is just too hard. Maybe it was good years back with PO, but not now. Is there a chart anywhere that shows what seats interchange over the years and models with other Subies? I would really like to score some better seats from a wrecking yard. My other thou

Yeah or part numbers...I looked around at a lot of the on-line stores but I could only find assembly pieces, maybe they don't have one part number for the entire seat?

  2. We have a 2000 OBW limited and an 05 legacy sedan limited. I'm sure everyone knows how terribly uncomfortable the 2000 leather driver and passenger seats are, and how comfortable the 05 seats are...which begs the question: Can I switch them?

I would like to find driver and passenger seats from another Subaru where you can actually endure a 6 hour car ride in but I am wondering if the power drivers seat and the heated seats would still work.

I have tried to search the forums so sorry if this has already been discussed and please point me to the threads or search terms used to find them.

    Thanks in advance!

  3. I am moving when it does not work and when it works. It usually takes about 5 minutes of city driving ~35 mph, then it kicks on, but no consistency on how far into the drive, the only consistancy is that it does not work when it is cold. On the cold mornings when I get in it does not work, but on a warmer day ~50F when I go to my car after work then the fan works just fine, without the engine running at normal operating temp yet.

  4. Ok, after putting up with it for a while I thought I would ask for suggestions as to why the fan will not come on for the heater, defrogger in the mornings. Seems like I have to wait for the car to warm up to normal operating temperature, and then keep selecting different fan modes for the fan to finally come on. I leave the fan speed at 4 and then start selecting, heat, heat/def, def, vent, ac, heat, heat/def, def...ya know just keep selecting until the fan comes on, usually it does within a couple minutes of normal operating temperature and a couple cycles through the buttons! Any ideas on why?

I figured it was just catching up with the times and making itself fancy, like other cars that won't push hot air until it is actually hot!:) But I don't remember upgrading the firmware.

  5. My 91 Legacy has 245,000 miles, what I would call normal work...belts, hoses, cv boot and one alternator. That's it until a year ago, then a clutch and transmission, it had 240,000 miles on it when I did the clutch and transmission...

bought the car in 98 for $4,000 with 120,000 miles on it.

I have owned a 2000 OBW for about 2 years and have alread replaced, front sway bar, ignition coil, knock sensor, radiator, hoses, thermostat and now it needs a new oxygen sensor or cat convertor...

I thought these things were supposed to get better!

  6. pretty much same thing happened to me but I had not had the HG replaced yet. But with the radiator cap off and the engine on, the bottom hose would collapse under the vaccum, so I replaced, thermostat, upper and lower hoses and radiator. I didn't go with an OE radiator but found one with a lifetime warranty for $131. Total parts I think I spent 180 and an evening and it's all fixed...

except the 420 error but that's in another post. :)

  7. For what it's worth (if you aren't covered by a recall), Code 420 went away for me when I changed the spark plugs, despite the fact a mechanic told me the inside of the front converter was broken apart. Car ran a lot better after that too.

I thought about that as well, I wonder if that would help with the 325 knock sensor also, a while ago I got a CEL and the car was running real rough, checked the wire and it was pretty much off the spark plug, re-attached all and everything was fine. I should probably replace the wires as well, general maintenance I guess!

  8. Ok, I have done a lot of searching on here for the converter. But what really happens and should I be concerned about the "real" problem. From what I can tell the 420 is specific to the converter. Is it that the engine is not functioning propery and therefore throwing the 420 code or is it that the converter is bad. I have 91,000 miles on the car. Replacing the converter seems like the most popular answer, but is there really an inefficiency in the burning of the fuel?

I don't mind changing or getting parts changed if that is really all that needs to happen, but is that the only reason it would produce the 420 code?

Same logic with the 325, I changed the knock sensor about a year ago, so is my car just really hard on knock sensors or is there a problem with a knock in the engine?
