  1. Wow. Glad there is such a wonderful forum to find answers. I am having the brake light and battery light issue. My wife was freaking out and of course I am trying to explain to her that the car is not about to die. What is the mechanics behind the brake lights coming on with an alternator problem- battery is obvious- but brake lights??? Glenn
  2. Car has been running fine. Should I be concerned that is a sign of a bigger problem or just a sensor acting up?
  3. Autozone checked my CEL for me and the code is a malfunctioning knock sensor. I have a 96 Subaru AWD Legacy. Anyone changed one? Is it a DIY or should I take it to the shop? Glenn
  4. A few months ago I purchased a 96 AWD Subaru Legacy off of my father in law. I LOVE THIS CAR! I am at 98K and the check engine light came on...no problems. Nothing. I had heard a rumor that the light comes on in some Subaru's as you approach 100K...??? I hooked up an OBD II reader but couldn't get a code. When I got the car inspected the guy at the dealership told me there is some trick to reading the codes. Can someone advise me? I need to figure out what is wrong with my car. Thanks, Glenn
