  1. As far as I understand the gate keeper will only be at the enterance of the busywild.

Some of these rules that were laid down at Elbe are going to ba what happins everywhere. We need to get everyone involved in the meeting that are going on. There is going to be alot of changes over the next few years. State and federal land has set deadlines for getting rules inplace. There are alot of nature freaks out there against wheelin that are involved too. Even if you don't have a wheelin rig you can still get involved and speak your mind. Evans is next.

  2. Thurday, November 15th 7pm at 4 wheel parts in Tacoma. This for Region 2 which includes Elbe Hills. This is NOT an Elbe Focus group meeting but since it seems that a few people would like the position of and chair for Elbe, so show up if you want it..

There WILL be discussion about Elbe and everyone is invited. You do NOT have to be a member although we'd still like you to join.

4 Wheel Parts is apparently opening the doors after business and will also have some good in store only sales for those attending the meeting.

    Thanks

  3. Elbe Hills Focus Group Summary

    Elbe Focus Group report

The turnout was very small for the ORV community, only 4 people plus Nancy Barker, from the DNR.

This however was a very important meeting as some critical decisions were made.

    First, for the news:

The helicopter has completed dropping tons of rock in along side various sections of the busywild. This rock is fairly large – from 12-18” most of it, and will be used eventually for trail repairs as needed.

We have a couple of loads or concrete remnants 1” to 6” concrete chunks to use wherever we need it.

We’re cleared to go ahead with the improvements to the rock quarry at the end of the 9 road and the Rainier Vista.

    Now, for the new stuff:

We agreed to a trail rating system and renaming a couple of trail sections.

We are going to be using a 4 step rating system.

Green Circle – Easy: These trails are passable for any 4x4 vehicle.

There are no Easy rated trails at Elbe Hills ORV Park.

Blue Square – Moderate: These trails are passable by most 4x4 vehicles with 31” – 33” offroad tires, may be more difficult in full size vehicles. Recovery equipment recommended.

The Sunrise, Gotcha, Alder Loop, Mainline as well as two new trail sections, the Mainline Cut (that name isn’t final yet) and the newly named “Easywild”. The Easywild is the second half of the Busywild that a lot of people don’t get to. It’s not been well marked in the past.

Black Diamond – Difficult: Recommended equipment includes 33”-35” tires, a single locker and vehicle recovery equipment.

The Mainline Extension and Swamp trail have this this rating.

Double Black Diamond – Extreme: Recommended equipment includes 36” or larger tires, dual lockers, winch and body armor.

There are two trails with this rating, the busywild and Rainier Vista (after it’s been renovated…)

Each trail will have a sign at the trail head and indicators at each trail intersection.

This winter, each trail will get marked with diamonds that are color matched to the trail map. There will be a work party when these are ready to be put up.

So, that’s all the good news, NOW, the flame suit goes on.

There is a vehicle restriction for the busywild that will be enforced and a gatekeeper will be built. This gatekeeper will keep out underprepared and “oversized” vehicles. The busywild will be restricted to vehicles with a wheelbase shorter than 107” and a maximum width defined as 82” outside bulge to outside bulge of the tires. As before the busywild is a one way only trail year round.

There will be another focus group meeting in two months.

  4. If you can show it would be great. Late notice, my fault.

The next meeting scheduled is November 13th at the DNR Annex Bldg - 950 Farman Ave. North, Enumclaw WA.

    6pm-8pm

For further information please contact, Bob Pacific, Trails/ORV Administrator, 450 Roosvelt Ave. East, Enumclaw, WA 98022 (360)825-6585 (Ext. 205)

  6. You would had have a some serious issues with at least rear locker. Body damage will happin if you don't do the chicken chutes. My cage saved my rig, I only drove away with door damage. The other Toy smashed a door and the back part of the extendo cab. Sliders are a must also. The Jeep, well lets just say he has some fixin to do.

  7. Anyone game? 9:30AMish in the main parking lot by the campgrounds. Need to be at least locked, lifted with OS tires that have aggessive tread for this one.

There is also other trails there that are more friendly if you wanna do them. I did most of them last weekend and I enjoyed them.

Just extending my invite to come out to enjoy the day and have some fun.

If anyone needs the camp ground here is the contact for that. http://www.pnw4wda.org/trails/washington/elbe_hills.htm

  8. Not going to be able to make the eastside run. Things came up that need to be dealt with. That saturday Aug. 4 I will have free and will probably do the Busy and Elbe if you can make that. I will post the run in a seperate thread.

  9. i'll see if i can get the parts. i want to drive!! started the paint, since i couldn't get the parts though. pics in offroad section.

are you guys running the naches pass trail over? raven's roost trail? haven't been on the upper part of raven's in years, i remember the last climb is enough to give almost anyone the hebbie jeebies! or just up kaner flats, and milk lake/ the rocks?

I will be trailering over to Kanner Flats. I would like to run Naches over and back. I like the scenery on that trail.

I am not possitive but I think Ravens roost may have been shut down. Or it coud had been the shoe string. I can't remember.

I like doing the 676, 308, 307, Tripod, Milk Lake, Naches, and a few others I can't remember. I try to squeeze in some fishin also. What ever whom ever wants to do I just go along.

  10. that weekend is my brother's house warming party... if i go i gotta leave sunday morning, early.

We will all probaby leave Sunday morning. I and another dude have to work Sunday night. I would plan on going over Friday mid morning and stay tell Sunday. Probaly stay in the upper level of Kanner flats camp area.

  11. well hopefully i get to pull-a-part before they close today. seriously low on fundage till the first though.

Keep in touch, let me know. Like I mentioned Turbone might have an extra set.

  12. they don't go together. wheeling on atv trails, gets areas shut down. not to mention tears up the trail for atv's. 400lbs vs. 2800lbs... and irritates those of us who drive atv's...

that's like if i took an atv down a dirtbike trail or a dirtbike down a wilderness hiking trail. it's illegal anyway you look at it. and we have been having enough trouble trying to keep trails open for 4x4's in the national forests...

    Agreed!

We should respect the type of trail that it is posted as before we all become pavement pounders by no choice. Not pointing fingers here, just agreeing.

  13. if i can get the car ready by then.... and if that weekend is free. still got a/t tires though...

They are just as easy to pop. If it ain't wet you should be able to do most all of what we like to do.

  14. Rooinater, Turbone and I have been poking around with an eastside run the weekend of Aug. 3, 4, 5. Nothing concrete just talk. We both have tight free time issues. I know your junk isn't ready but maybe you can get Turbone to help out with as far as an extra seat. We will know more soon.

  15. Gonna be at Elbe July 21st 9:30AM. Doing the Busywild. This a trail for the very well equipt rig. Locked diffs, tall agressive tires, Tall lift and recovery gear. Just a small group of us two Jeeps and two Toys so far, need a Subaru or two

  16. August is hit and miss for me. Relitives are headed my way and I will be decking and roofing my log cabin the last half of August. I am kinda leaning towards Naches, 676, 308, milk lake trail, funny rocks and the moon rocks sometime early August. Kinda need my eastside fix

  17. I wheel, I post and only a couple show if they have time. I wheel at least once a month. I will be at Elbe July 21 to do the Busywild. You folks are more then welcome to show. It is a Biatch of a trail so only well equipt rigs please. Let me know.
