  1. Hey, all. I had a cracked evap canister, so I went to the junkyard and grabbed another. I installed it, but had problems filling the gas tank. It would fill a few seconds, then shut off. So, I got home, pulled the evap canister, and blew through each of the three ports. Two of them had air flow in and out to each other, the third was blocked. Checking the ops diagram, looks like that port runs to the intake manifold. Should it be blocked (has a check valve or something), or should it have airflow? Thank you.
  2. Hi. I have a 99 outback, and it's treating me pretty well. A while ago, I got a Check Engine Light, P0442, and finally chased it down to a loose connector on the canister purge valve under the right rear bumper. I reconnected it, and everything was fine. For a while, anyway. Check engine light has come back on, P0443 this time. I go through the troubleshooting guide, and the issue is the connector, but wiggling the connector still fixes the light. I dig into it deeper, and the connector is not lining up with the pins on the purge valve. So, a little more experimentation, and I have the wires connecting directly to the pins on the valve. That fixes it up. However, I can't seem to find a connector to replace the old one. Parts store, nothing. Dealership (!), nothing. Boneyards destroy the harnesses. Does anyone know where to find Subaru wire connectors? Thanks in advance.
  3. Hey, all. I was doing some maintenance on my 1999 Legacy Outback 2.5. After changing the fluid in my manual transmission and finding metal hunks in it, I've been looking at replacing the transmission. It may last months, it may last tomorrow. But, I'm wondering what other manual transmissions will bolt on. And does anyone have one sitting around?
