Howdy,
I have a 2002 Outback wagon LTD with 57K miles on it.
Recently I drove 350 miles and when I got off the freeway, the clutch started alternately feeling like it popped up too high then toward the floor was mushy. As the clutch comes all the way up there's a sort of flap/pop sound like the clutch pedal is a little loose.
I got the clutch fluid changed (and the dealer thought that was the problem since it was black).
Everything was fine and normal driving in the city.
A few weeks later I drove 350 miles again and the same problem - as soon as I exited the freeway and drove on the city streets, too much clutch play.
So I conclude this happens when the car is very warm and maybe is the clutch very warm too from the long drive?
Any idea what the problem is? Thanks!
