I thought it could be a faulty fuel pump. Those MAF sensors are located right where the air filter is, correct?

I have a 93 Subaru Impreza that started to hesitate and stall intermitently. Sometime it is around a turn at 20 mph sometimes it will hesitate on the the highway and buck a little bit. On multiple occasions it has hesitated so much on the highway that it totally stalls out. And i have to quicking put it in Neutral and start it back up while its rolling down the highway at 70mph. A few times a pulled over and i smelt a sulfur smell. It has new plugs and i put some dry gas in there. I also replaced the ignitor module, as per the request of a few mechanics. That didn't clear up the problem. I just replaced the fuel filter. At no avail. It has 220000. It has always been a dependable car. to me. Has anyone else had this problem before or anyone could help me. Thanks
