The 48hrs of Tristate Committee is happy to announce the 12th Annual Charity Drive January 17-20, 2013. We will be organizing this trip once again and this year we are heading North again to get back to some snow covered roads. Some background on The 48hrs... The trip was originally organized as a way for Subaru owners to get out and see the Tri-state area and meet other Subaru owners who share a passion for these cars. What better way than to have a group drive over a weekend in January? Since it's inception it has grown from 5 cars and 48hrs to 50+ cars and 3 days. This is the largest Subaru Group drive over multiple days, and you will meet a lot of great Subaru owners and bond over meals and miles! Not only is the trip a fun way to spend a weekend, we also are doing this to raise money for The American Cancer Society. All registrations and donations go directly to ACS and are a Tax Deduction. Additionally for every $10 you donate, you will get a raffle ticket for our door prizes donated by Subaru Vendors. The past few years we gave away about $10,000 in prizes each year thanks to the supporters of the event.
Details and registration can be found at http://48hrs.info and Like us on Facebook http://facebook.com/48hrsoftristate
Highlights of the 2013 Trip:
Friday Jan 18:
Kickoff at Phoenix Racing, Home of the Subaru Road Race Team
Group Drive up to Burlington Vermont
Saturday Jan 19:
Tour and Visit at Vermont Sports car, Home of the Subaru Rally Team
Backroads Drive through the picturesque Adirondack Mountains
Raffle Dinner and Party at Dunham's Bay Resort in Lake George, NY
Sunday Jan 20:
More Back Roads Driving
Closing Dinner in Nyack, NY at the Palisades Mall
This is not a rally or any kind of performance driving, it is a laid back group drive where no one is left behind and we all proceed together on our adventure. We welcome all kinds of Subarus and Non-Subarus on the drive. Plenty of folks have come with non-performance oriented cars, so don't be scared off thinking this is all WRXs and STis.
Any questions feel free to post up or e-mail us directly to paisan@48hrs.info
We will keep this thread updated as the details fall into place for this years trip!

I am pleased to announce the 11th Annual 48 hrs of Tristate Subaru Enthusiasts Drive for Charity, taking place January 12-15th, 2012. As in the past, the purpose of our event is to combine the love of driving a Subaru with raising money for Charity.
Register at http://48hrs.info
Over the past 10 years our popularity has grown from 8 vehicles participating to as many as 65. All types of Subaru's are welcome on this trip. Our groups of enthusiasts have driven everything from the XT6, GL, DL, SVX, Legacy, Impreza and Brat to the WRX STi. Our participants have included EMT's, doctors, lawyers, members of the financial industry, mechanics, printers, whole families, and students. The only requirement is a love of Subaru and a commitment to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
This year we are heading to the Mid-Atlantic Area which is different than what we've done in the past to include more folks who have never had a chance to ride with us! So if you are in MD, DE, VA, WV, PA and NJ we'll be in your neck of the woods.

For what you may ask? How about we keep our fingers crossed that Mother Nature doesn't interfere with us taking some AERIAL GROUP PHOTOS!
Saturday night during the Drawing Dinner we have Christian Lee, a comedian from the Virginia area, lined up to help us entertain you.
Sunday we have a tour of Mach V Motorsports!

No old school subies want to come along?

It's that time of year again, when the Auto-x has quieted down, the Road Race Courses are closed, the Car Meets are finished for the year, and you are stuck at home with your Subie just itching to get out there and see other Subaru enthusiasts. Well luckily for you for the past 10 winters we have been holding The 48hrs of Tristate. This event has grown from a group of 5 cars raising about $1000 for World Trade Center Attack Victims in 2002 to our highest ever last year in 2010 where we had 60 cars registered and raised over $35,000 for The American Cancer Society.
The trip takes place over 4 days this year because we are being hosted at both the Subaru of American Corporate Headquarters in Cherry Hill, NJ as well as a private tour of the Subaru of Indiana plant in Lafayette, IN. You will make new friends and bond with old ones as we go on an adventure across 5 states and over 1,500 miles together.
There is no "fee" other than the required Driver donation to The American Cancer Society (a tax writeoff too). We usually secure over $10,000 in door prizes from Subaru-oriented Vendors which we raffle off to registered participants (be they drivers, passengers, or folks who donate to ACS through our site who can't make the trip).
The route this year starts in Cherry Hill, NJ and ends in Harriman, NY.
Jan 12- Pre-event Offroading in The Pine Barrens
Jan 13- Opening Breakfast at SOA Headquarters
Jan 14- Plant Tour and Raffle at SIA Plant
Jan 14- Cookout at Turnin Concepts
Jan 15- Highways and Byways travel to Buffalo, NY for some Hot Wings
Jan 16- Backroads and Highways tour through Ithaca, NY to Harriman, NY
All the Details can be found at http://48hrs.info
The sooner you register, the sooner you can start helping raise money for The American Cancer Society.
-mike

Since not everyone has the time or the money to attend the whole or even part of the 48hrs, we have
come up with a way that you can still partake in the excitement and help raise money for The
American Cancer Society. Subaru of America is matching Dollar for Dollar on the money we raise for
ACS up to $7,000. So if we hit our goal of $8,000, SOA will put in an ADDITIONAL $7,000 bringing in
a total of $15,000 for ACS.
For every $10 you donate toward the 2009 48hrs of Tristate Team on the ACS Webpage you will get a
ticket for the raffle in return. Vendor Sponsors this year have given us about $10,000(retail
value) of merchandise to raffle off! Click on the ticket below to get directly to the Raffle Page
on the 48hrs.info site and spread the word! Winner need not be present, if the item is not a gift
card then the winner is responsible for picking it up or having it shipped to them.

That's right folks, it's that time of the year again, when we all break out of the winter blues of no car shows, no auto-x, no road racing, no drag strips and head out on the open highway for a good cause. This is the 8th Annual running where a group of Subaru enthusiasts from all over the TriState area take a 3 day long trip covering about 48hrs of driving overall from Subaru Headquarters in NJ to the wintery snow of the Adirondacks.
This year we are planning on about 900 miles of highways, backroads and no roads with dinners and partys every night. We also will be visiting SOA headquarters in Cherry Hill, NJ we will also be visiting Subaru Distributors Corp, the company that distributed most of our cars, and Vermont Sports Car where they build rally cars for SOA. Last year we raised over $13,000 for the American Cancer Society from pledges that the participants gathered and SOA's matching donations! Our goal this year is to raise over $8,000 for ACS.
The trip will start with a dinner kickoff in Cherry Hill, NJ on Thurs Night Jan 15, 2008. We will continue on Friday morning with a visit to Subaru of America Headquarters for breakfast and then the drive will take our Subies up to SDC Headquarters for a catered lunch.
Friday night we end in Burlington, VT. Saturday morning we have a tour of Vermont Sports Car planned, a treat for any Rally fans out there. Sat night after cruising the Northern Adirondacks we will end up at Dunham's Bay Resort in Lake George for our Raffle Banquet. Sunday will take us down through central NYS ending at our closing dinner meet in Scranton, PA
All kinds of Subies are welcome on this trip. We've had XT6s, GLs, DLs, Legacies, Brats, you name it!
Several companies also have provided us with door prizes for those participating! In past years we've had $1000s and $1000s worth of raffle prizes!
The important info:

Maybe if you wanted people from here to take interest in this event you could have said something about this a little more in advance than just a week or so. Not everyone on here hangs out on Nasioc. I actually would be interested in doing this if I HAD MORE THAN A WEEKS NOTICE!!!!!!1!!!!!!1!!!!!!
:-\
Sorry about that. This year I've actually been working about 60-70hrs a week and haven't had time to get the word out. I'll invite yah for next year though, first weekend in Jan we run it every year
-mike
-
Hey all. In case you haven't heard of it yet, this is a unique bonding experience of Subaru owners throughout the NY/NJ/PA/NH/CT Area. Started 5 years ago as a way to get everyone together for a drive and to share some meals and meet new folks and raise money for charity. This drive will take you to 3 states, over 1000 miles in 48hrs.
Check out the details on the website:
http://azpinstalls.com/48hrs06/
Hope to see you there!
-mike

Ok folks with all the Evo-Subaru talk from last weekends Drag Racing Event, I figured I'd keep the ball rolling and put together a Road Course Event!
I spoke with NASA-NE and they have agreed to give us our own rungroup at Limerock Park in Nov! (or any NASA Event).
Here is the deal...
We need 30 Subies and EVOs register (total) to get our own rungroup. You'd still have instructors same as you would have in a regular rungroup, but ontrack would be only Subies and EVOs. Limerock Park is in the NW Corner of CT. Awsome track! You can learn a lot at an HPDE Event. It wouldn't be a "competition" like the Drage Event, but it would definitely have some friendly banter between the Subies and Evos and some good comradere. Afterward we can all meet up at the traditional pizza joint and trade stories of the day. If you want pics of track days you can check out the Team IAC webpage and forum.
